Extra Credit Assignment

Extra Credit
As young adults, you should be keeping up with current events, so you can make informed decisions as you get older.  This is election year and the candidates have already begun battling it out for the seat in the White House. Last night (10/3/2012) was the first of three debates that Mitt Romney (R) and Barack Obama (D) will have. Each 60 minute debate will focus on different topics that are important to the American people.
Your assignment is to watch about 15-20 minutes of last night’s debate and simply give me your opinion of both candidates using TEXTUAL EVIDENCE from the debate or online sources (attach the link if you are using an online news article). I don’t want you tell me that Obama is better because he is better looking. Or that Romney did a better job because he had a nicer tie on J
Once you have your evidence and opinion formed, go to our class blog and post your findings. You should give us a short comparison of both candidates and 1-2 paragraphs explaining their position and your opinion. You can agree or disagree, but tell me why.

Welcome Back

I have created this blog to serve as a form of communication from me to you, but also for you to use to post things to your classmates. I will be posting regularly and therefore some topics I will expect you to comment on for a grade, and other topics will be posted purely for your enjoyment :)

So how will this work? In class or through e-mail I will tell you when to check out our blog. If I tell you a comment is necessary then you will need to post your comment and sign your first and last name at the end, so I can give you credit for the assignment. If you have anything you want me to post email me at nrubinet@gmail.com. This could be almost anything. Maybe you want to remind your classmates about an event after school or maybe you just want your classmates to read something you have written and want our feedback. I will post your topic either with your name by it or anonymously. Let’s make it a great year!
